Sefton Advice Services is a partnership project funded by the Big Lottery, to bring advice and other support organisations together to work to modernise and increase access to advice services in Sefton. The project is working on a number of activities such as this website, to make it easier for people to find advice when they need it.

The partnership is made up of Citizens Advice Sefton (lead organisation), Age Concern Liverpool & Sefton, Arvato, One Vision Housing, Sefton Council, Sefton CVS, South Sefton Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and Southport & Formby CCG.
Other activities of the project are:

  • An online cross-agency referral system – available for advice and support organisations to make referrals between organisations, so people don’t have to go to lots of different locations to get to the advice organisation that is best for them.
  • Improvements to the Citizens Advice Sefton telephone service – so that people can call on more days than previously, which helps to increase access to advice services.
  • Accredited training opportunities for staff and volunteers from advice and support organisations.
  • A Social Welfare Law Advisers Forum – to help advisers share information and local knowledge about some of the main issues affecting people in Sefton, such as changes to welfare benefits like the new Universal Credit.
  • During 2015 – setting up a consortium for advice and support agencies, so that they can work together on funding bids, and delivery of projects.

The project is funded until the end of September 2015, but the website, accredited training, Advisers Forum, and advice consortium are all things that can remain in place even after the project is finished.
